Publication Ethics

Statement of Ethics

Paradigma: Jurnal Kajian Budaya requires itself to maintain the integrity of peer-reviewers reviews. We use i-Thenticate and/or Turnitin to check the text authenticity. Authors who want to publish their writings should be aware that their documents will be examined with i-Thenticate and/or Turnitin plagiarism detectors throughout the review and production process. In addition, the authors are also strongly advised to maintain the integrity of their work concerning conflicts of interest, falsification, and fabrication of data, plagiarism, ethical violations in experiments, unsatisfactory agreement on research subjects, and disputes between authors.


Ethical guidelines for authors

We expect the authors to agree on the following ethical guidelines,

  • All authors must ensure that their articles are personal and original works, do not violate the intellectual property rights of others or other entities, and cannot be categorized as plagiarism of any published work.
  • All authors whose names appear in articles have equal responsibility for the content of submitted documents or published articles.
  • The lead author must ensure that all co-authors agree on publication and are willing to put their names as co-authors. All people who have contributed both scientifically and linguistically to written work, which will be published, should be called co-authors.
  • Authors are prohibited from submitting a document to more than one journal simultaneously.
  • Authors are prohibited from submitting published works or whose substance is either partially or wholly based on previously published works.
  • Authors must cite citations from all relevant publications. Information obtained personally, such as in conversations, correspondence, or discussions with third parties, may only be used or reported in the author's work if quoted entirely and with the third party's permission.
  • Authors should avoid blasphemy when writing articles that might be considered discrediting others.
  • Authors must state any potential conflicts of interest—both professional and financial—that may be addressed in the article.

Plagiarism

Paradigma: Jurnal Kajian Budaya considers plagiarism as an uncivilized act and will blacklist authors who intentionally cite directly or use material from published articles without proper acknowledgment.


Conflict of interests

  • A conflict of interest may arise when an author, an author's employer, or sponsor has a financial, commercial, juridical, or professional relationship with another organization or with people they work with that could potentially influence the author's research.
  • Potential conflicts of interest concerning submitted documents include but are not limited to consulting, employment, grants, wages and honoraria, patents, royalties, reservoirs, or co-ownership.
  • A thorough explanation by the author is required at the time of article submission, and the editor will use that information to inform the editorial decision. If necessary, the author may be asked to describe the potential conflict of interest in a closed letter. A decision may be taken by the editor or reviewer partner not to publish based on any addressed conflicts.

Guidelines for peer-reviewers

  • Peer-reviewers are requested to comply with the following ethical guidelines for all Paradigma: Jurnal Kajian Budaya articles they agree to review.
  • Peer-reviewers should consider each document submitted for publication without bias and assess each on its merits regardless of the author's race, religion, nationality, gender, seniority, or institution of origin.
  • Peer-reviewers must keep the review process confidential: information or correspondence about a manuscript may not be shared with anyone outside the review process.
  • Peer-reviewers must provide review reports that are constructive, thorough, evidence-based, and highlight the substance of the writing.
  • Peer-reviewers should attempt to submit reports and recommendations promptly, informing the editors if it is impossible to complete the review within the allotted time.
  • Peer-reviewers must notify the editor if they suspect any significant similarities between the documents under review with any published works or submitted documents.

Ethical guidelines for editors

  • All the editorial team members are requested to comply with the following ethical guidelines for all Paradigma: Jurnal Kajian Budaya articles that appear to be deemed worthy of publication under review by a peer-reviewer.
  • The editorial team members should consider each document submitted for publication without bias and assess each on its merits regardless of the author's race, religion, nationality, gender, seniority, or institution of origin.
  • The editorial team members must keep the review process confidential: information or correspondence about a document may not be shared with anyone outside the review process.
  • The editorial team members may reject a document submitted without a formal opinion from the peer-reviewers if they consider it unsuitable for their journal and outside the journal scope.
  • Editorial team members should endeavor to process submitted manuscripts in an efficient and scheduled manner.
  • If a member of the editorial team finds convincing evidence of error in the main body or conclusion of any article in Paradigma: Jurnal Kajian Budaya, he must facilitate the publication of the appropriate correction.
  • Any data or analysis put in a submitted document may not be used in the editorial staff's own research except with the author's consent.
