About This Journal
The Makara Journal of Science (Makara J. Sci.) is a peer-reviewed international journal published by the Universitas Indonesia (UI) to serve as a platform for cutting-edge interdisciplinary research in the Material Sciences (including: physics, biology, and chemistry); Biochemistry, Genetics, and Molecular Biology (including: microbiology, physiology, ecology, taxonomy and evolution); and Biotechnology.
Makara J. Sci. as a multi-disciplinary medium fosters high quality, scientifically sound and original research on par with internationally acclaimed specialized journals. Submissions, including original research manuscripts, computational or theoretical papers, notes, and mini-reviews are welcomed.
All published articles are available online through open access. Authors should refer to the Authors Guidelines for details on how to prepare their manuscript; submission is performed via the online submission system (https://scholarhub.ui.ac.id/science). Starting from 2014, Makara J. Sci. has been publishing in March, June, September, and December. Makara J. Sci. is the successor to the “Makara of Science Series” and “Makara Science”, which have been published since 1997. The name “Makara” is adopted from the Makara tree featured in the UI logo which symbolizes a source of knowledge disseminating “fruit” in all directions.
This journal is licensed under a CC BY-SA 4.0 License. This journal provides immediate full-text open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. All articles published in Open Access will be immediately and permanently free for everyone to read and download. Articles are freely available to the broader public following Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA). We are continuously working with our author communities to select the best license option: Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA).
Authors/Readers/Third Parties can copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format, as well as remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially, but they must give appropriate credit (the name of the creator and attribution parties (authors detail information), a copyright notice, an open access license notice, a disclaimer notice, and a link to the material), provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made (Publisher indicates the modification of the material (if any) and retain an indication of previous modifications using a CrossMark Policy and information about Erratum-Corrigendum notification).
Copyright Transfer Agreement for Publishing (Publishing Right)
By submitting a manuscript to Makara Journal of Science (MJS), the authors agree that, if the manuscript is accepted, the non-exclusive publishing rights of the article will be transferred to MJS for publication and dissemination purposes.
After an article has been accepted for publication, the authors will be required to sign a Journal Publishing Agreement (JPA). The corresponding author will receive an email acknowledging the acceptance of the manuscript along with a link to complete the JPA electronically.
The Editorial Board and the publisher of MJS are committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of all published content. Nevertheless, the views, interpretations, data, and conclusions expressed in published articles, as well as the content of advertisements, remain the sole responsibility of the respective authors and advertisers. MJS and its editorial bodies cannot be held accountable for any errors, omissions, or consequences arising from the use of such information.
Makara Journal of Science is a member of Cross-Ref, Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and is indexed in the Scopus, Google Scholar, DOAJ, EBSCO, ISJD, as well as IPI databases. The journal is published by the Directorate of Research and Community Engagement, Universitas Indonesia
