About The Journal

ASEAN Journal of Community Engagement (AJCE) is a bi-annual refereed journal which draws on research concerned with the practice and processes of community engagement. The first edition was published in July 2017 and the journal is published twice a year (Bi-annually, in July and December). The journal aims to provide a forum as well as a publishing platform for academics, practitioners and community representatives to explore issues and reflect on practices related to engagement activities. This journal is a peer-reviewed online journal dedicated to the publication of high-quality research focused on conceptual frameworks, theories, implementation, practices, and policies related to community engagement.

As the name implies, this journal focuses on the latest trends and issues of community engagement in ASEAN countries regardless of the authors' affiliation. Most of the ASEAN countries share similarities as developing countries, yet it also has a high level of complexity and a uniqueness in terms of people, region, culture, humanities, and other related social science aspects. The issue of community engagement is one of the most crucial issues in ASEAN, especially issues related to community health, education, and economy.

This journal is supported by the ASEAN University Network (AUN). The editorial board members are from the ASEAN countries accordingly. ASEAN Journal of Community Engagement is published by Universitas Indonesia in cooperation with ASEAN University Network and University Kebangsaan Malaysia. This journal serves as a publishing medium as well as a platform to share detailed insights from different understandings and practices associated with community services. It provides an international forum for the cross-disciplinary exchange of insights and ideas regarding community engagement for dissemination. ASEAN Journal of Community Engagement publishes peer-reviewed work to the international society of practitioners and researchers with interest in community engagement from a wide variety of sectors. Our journal focuses on, but not limited to, community development, community services, community empowerment, community outreach, and action research.

ASEAN Journal of Community Engagement encourages the publishing of original research related to community engagement programs. The type of research depends on your field or the topic of community engagement (a program that has been done, an experiment, the impact of your program, survey, interview, questionnaire, etc.). It is encouraged for the research paper to be based on the analysis and interpretation between theory and community engagement programs. Therefore, authors need to explain the problems faced by the local community where the program is conducted.

ASEAN Journal of Community Engagement is an open-access journal and free to register. The authors can register online on the website and will not be charged for the registration process.
