Volume 4, Number 1 (2024) In Honor of Keebet von Benda-Beckmann on the Application of Legal Anthropological Theories and Methods in Sociolegal Studies
Prof. Keebet von Benda-Beckmann's contributions to legal anthropology's development are enormous - also in Indonesia, where "Ibu Keebet" is considered one of the "mothers" of legal anthropology. Together with her husband Prof. Franz von Benda-Beckmann, Ibu Keebet has conducted research in Indonesia for more than 40 years, thus creating inspiration and building blocks for numerous Indonesian legal scholars to conduct legal anthropological and socio-legal research. The works of the Benda-Beckmanns have become key references for legal anthropologist, legal pluralists, and socio-legal scholars all over the world, to the extent that their theories and methodologies - especially those related to the concept of legal pluralism - have become part of the universal legal-anthropological canon.
