Journal Policies

The Indonesian Journal of Socio-Legal Studies (IJSLS) Policy

Philosophy of The Indonesian Journal of Socio-Legal Studies

For more information, please see The Indonesian Journal of Socio-Legal Studies Aims and Scope page.

Peer-Review Policy

The journal implements the peer review policy as a means to ensure the quality of the publication in the journal. The peer-review process consists of initial review, double-blind review, and the decision by the editor.

Initial Review: The editor evaluates the submitted manuscript to determine if the content is suitable for the journal. The manuscript is also subjected to a similarity check procedure to identify any indication of plagiarism. Manuscripts with contents that are not suitable for the journal or with a high percentage of similarity will be returned immediately to the author(s).

Peer Review: Submitted manuscripts that have passed the initial review are subjected to double-blind review, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous during the review process. Minimum of two reviewers are assigned to evaluate and provide the recommendation for a manuscript. In assigning the reviewers, the editor is responsible to avoid the conflict of interest during the review process.

Decision: The editor makes the final decision on the acceptability of a manuscript based on the comments and recommendation of the reviewers.

Open Access Policy

The journal promotes the dissemination of the high quality research by providing immediate open access. The open access of the journal means its free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself.

Rights for Authors

In order for The Indonesian Journal of Socio-Legal Studies (IJSLS) to publish and disseminate research articles, we need publishing rights (transferred from author(s) to the publisher). This is determined by a publishing agreement between the Author(s) and IJSLS

This agreement deals with the transfer or license of the copyright of publishing to IJSLS, while Authors still retain significant rights to use and share their own published articles. IJSLS supports the need for authors to share, disseminate and maximize the impact of their research and these rights, in any databases.

As the manuscript Author(s), you have rights for a large range of uses of your article, including use by your employing institution or company. These Author rights can be exercised without the need to obtain specific permission. Authors publishing in IJSLS have wide rights to use their works for teaching and scholarly purposes without needing to seek permission, including:

  1. use for classroom teaching by the Author(s) or Author(s)' institution and presentation at a meeting or conference and distributing copies to attendees;
  2. use for internal training by the Author(s)' institution;
  3. distribution to colleagues for their research use;
  4. use in a subsequent compilation of the Author(s)' works;
  5. inclusion in a thesis or dissertation;
  6. reuse of portions or extracts from the article in other works (with full acknowledgement of the final article);
  7. preparation of derivative works (with full acknowledgement of the final article);
  8. voluntary posting on open web sites operated by the Author(s) or Author(s)' institution for scholarly purposes,
  9. Authors/Readers/Third Parties can copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format, as well as remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially, but they must give appropriate credit (the name of the creator and attribution parties (author(s)' detailed information) provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made.

    Authors/Readers/Third Parties can read, print and download, redistribute or republish the article (e.g. display in a repository), translate the article, download for text and data mining purposes, reuse portions or extracts from the article in other works, sell or re-use for commercial purposes, remix, transform, or build upon the material, they must distribute their contributions under the same license as the original
