Peer Review Process

All articles published in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial screening by the editors followed by anonymous peer review.

Read the instruction for authors and publication ethics before submitting your article.

The peer review process can be broadly summarized into the following steps.
  1. The corresponding or submitting author submits the paper to the journal. Starting from 2022 Masyarakat Jurnal Sosiologi only accept manuscripts submitted via the online system.
  2. The editors examine whether the articles meet Masyarakt Jurnal Sosiologi's focus and style. Articles that do not meet the journal’s focus and style will be rejected without being reviewed any further.
  3. The editors send invitations to potential reviewers.
  4. Potential reviewers consider the invitation against their own expertise, conflicts of interest, and availability. They then accept or decline.
  5. Reviewers conduct the review following a guideline provided by Masyarakat Jurnal Sosiologi. The review is then submitted to the journal, with a recommendation to reject or accept the manuscript (with minor or major revisions).
  6. The editors consider all the returned reviews before making a decision. If the reviews differ widely, the editor may invite an additional reviewer to get an extra opinion.
  7. The journal communicates the decision to the author/s.
  8. Next Steps: If accepted, the paper is sent to production. If an article is rejected or sent back for either major or minor revision, the editors will include constructive comments from the reviewers to help the author improve the article.
