AUTHOR GUIDELINES

SUBMISSION OF MANUSCRIPT

  • As of February 2019, we only accept manuscripts in English, and please submit the manuscript to the website of PSR (the successor of MIK): http://scholarhub.ui.ac.id/psr/.
  • The authors should ensure that the manuscript has been spelling and grammar checked.
  • The authors should ensure that the manuscript is written according to the guidelines.
  • All manuscripts submitted should be the original scientific works by authors that have not been published previously or simultaneously under consideration for publication by other media.
  • The author submits the manuscript online through this website.
  • The submission should be in editable file in Ms. Word format, and all author information should be deleted in the manuscript, since it will be forwarded to the reviewer in double blind-review process.
  • The manuscript should be written in accordance with the instruction provided in Preparation of Manuscript section and provided template.
  • The Board of Editors reserves the right to make some adjustment to the format for uniformity.
  • All of the manuscripts submitted to Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research will be peer-reviewed and subject to review by the Editors. All manuscripts are subject to double-blind reviews.
  • The Editor will give the final decision about which manuscripts are accepted for publication. The author will receive a notification from the Editor.

SCREENING FOR MISCONDUCTS

During the initial screening, manuscripts will be screened by the editors to avoid misconducts such as plagiarism using iThenticate or Turnitin. Manuscripts will be proceed to review process or sent back to author, according to the result of the initial screening.

REVIEW PROCESS

All MIK/PSR's articles will have the same standard of double blind peer-review for all content submitted. Manuscripts will be reviewed by the editorial board and/or independent referee who are experts in the field. All reviewers should have no conflict of interest. Decisions regarding the publication of a manuscript will be based on the board's recommendations, objectively. The manuscript will be evaluated based on its appropriateness for MIK/PSR, contribution to the discipline, cogency of analysis, conceptual breadth, clarity of presentation and technical adequacy. Relevant published works which is not yet cited will be pointed out by reviewers. Manuscripts submitted by members of the journal's Editorial Board are subjected to the same review procedure. All reviewed articles will be treated confidentially

REVISION OF THE MANUSCRIPT

  • Point-by-point response letter. If the manuscript is decided by the Editor to be revised, any changes made on the revised manuscript should be put on a list, point-by-point with line number information and uploaded in cover letter box.
  • The author should carefully examine the sentence structure, the completeness and accuracy of the text, tables, and graphic contents in the revised manuscript.

ORIGINALITY

The following policies offer further clarification on originality in several different contexts:

Responsibilities of authors of articles published by MIK/PSR

Authors should only submit original work that has neither appeared elsewhere for publication, nor which is under review for another publication. In addition, since reviewing is a valuable work handled by our expert, if an author withdraws a manuscript while that manuscript is under review by MIK/PSR, a penalty of 2 (two) consecutive years will be applied.

Editorial reuse of previously published material

It is common in technical publishing for material to be presented at various stages of its evolution. As one example, this can take the form of publishing early ideas in a workshop, more developed work in a conference and fully developed contributions as papers/articles. The MIK/PSR recognizes the importance of this evolutionary publication process as a significant means of scientific communication and fully supports this publishing paradigm. At the same time the MIK/PSR requires that this evolutionary process be fully referenced.

Author obligation to cite previous work

If author(s), within the evolutionary publishing paradigm, have used their own previously published or submitted material as a basis for a new submission, it requires that the author(s) cite the previous work(s) and very clearly indicate how the new submission differs from the previously published work(s).

PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPT

The main text (not including Abstract, References, Tables, Figures, and figure legends) should be: no more than 5,000 words for Research Article or Review Article no more than 3,000 words for Mini Review and Case Report. In total (Main Text, Abstract, References, Tables, Figures, and figure legends), should ideally be: no more than 15 typeset pages in length for Research Article or Review Article no more than 10 typeset pages in length for Mini Review and Case Report

1. Title

a. Concise and informative. The maximum article title length is 20 words, not including the conjunction. Short phrases are counted as one word.
b. Must be written with Times New Roman, 16pt, Bold, and Left alignment.

2. Abstract

a. Abstract should be concise and highlighting the importance of the research, which contains background, purpose of study, methods, main findings or results, and principal conclusion.
b. The caption “Abstract” should be written using Times New Roman, 12pt, bold, all caps, Left alignment.
c. Abstract should be prepared in English with Font Times New Roman, 12pt, single-spaced, maximum 250 words.
d. The Abstract — which must be no more than 250 words long and contain no references, equation, tables and figures.
e. Keywords must be written in English, 12pt, italics, lowercase, maximum 5 words or short phrases.

3. Body Text

a. Body text should be written using Times New Roman, 12pt, 1.5 lines-spaced, justified, A4 paper size, margin top 3.5 cm (1.4 inch); bottom 2.5 cm (1 inch); left and right 2 cm (0.8 inch).
b. Section caption should be written using Times New Roman, 12pt, bold, all in capital letters.
c. The text should be structured as:

INTRODUCTION
The introduction section should present the objective of the study and its relationship to earlier work in the field. State the scientific problem(s) or hypothese(s) described in the article. Explain the importance of the problem to the field of study. Provide adequate background and also concise literature that frames the content of the article, to show earlier researches or existing solution/method. Describe why the study could solve the limitation of the earlier work or the novelties of the study. Should not be an extensive review of the literature.

METHODS (could be eliminated in mini review/review article/case report)
Contain brief but sufficiently complete description of procedures and materials in order to allow the experiment to be repeated. Only new procedures should be described. Previous published procedures should be referenced. Significance materials should be described in detail. Provide brand/manufacturer’s name and country for all of instruments and commercial kit in parentheses, i.e. HPLC (ABCD, Indonesia).

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Results should be clear and concise. Summarize the important finding. Avoid to describing all the data in detail.

The discussion should explore the significance of the results of the work, not repeat them. Clearly state the interpretation of the study results and the discussion of the other relevant published data. Avoid the repetition of studies explained in the introduction.

CONCLUSION
This should clearly explain the main conclusions of the work highlighting its importance and relevance. Conclusions are not an extension of the discussion or a summary of the results. Do not repeat the Abstract, or just list experimental results. Conclusions must not contain references to the cited literature.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Recognize those who helped the research, especially supporting grants.

Please disclose if any, or if nothing to declare, please state that authors have no conflict of interest to declare

REFERENCES
Please use the last 10 years references, mainly primary literature (research article). Sort the reference list based on alphabetical of first author surname (A to Z). Written format of the reference list should be in accordance with APA format (American Psychological Association).

4. Tables

a. Tables should be submitted in the same file, but in a separate page from the manuscript. Place them after 'References".
b. Please submit tables as editable text and not as images.
c. The caption should be brief, clearly indicating the purpose or content of each table, written using Times New Roman, 12 pt, bold.
d. The text inside the table should be written using Times New Roman, 12 pt, single space. e. Mention the tables in the text.
f. Tables should be numbered in Arabic numeral.

5. Figures

a. Figures should be submitted in the same file, but in a separate page from the manuscript. Place them after 'Tables or References'.
b. We only accept JPG, JPEG, PNG and TIFF format with minimum resolution 300 dpi 1000 pixel.
c. For molecular structure, we highly recommend to use chemdraw or marvin sketch or similar software that gives clear and precise two or three dimentional structures.
d. The figure legend should be written using Times New Roman, 12 pt, single space.
e. For figure that has been published before, author should mention the source.

6. Citation

Citation in the text is written as: first author surname followed by year. Place the citation at the end of the referred sentence. For example:
If only one author: ..............(Forbes, 2014).
If two authors: ....................(Forbes & Safitri, 2014). Note: &
If more than two authors: .. (Forbes et al., 2014). Note: et al.

7. References

a. Please use the last 10 years reference, mainly primary literature (research article).
b. Sort the reference list based on alphabetical of first author surname (A to Z).
c. Written format of the reference list should be in accordance with APA format (American Psychological Association).
d. Please use standard template available in reference management software such as Mendeley (https://www.mendeley.com) and also others like EndNote (https://www.endnote.com); Reference Manager (https://refman.com) and RefWork (https://www.refworks.com/)

AUTHOR FEES

This journal charges the following author fees*:

  1. There is no submission charge for author (free of charge for submitting article).
  2. Article Processing Charge (APC) for each accepted article is IDR 1,000,000 for Indonesian author or USD 100 for foreign author (incl. tax/ppn).
  3. 3. For printed version (jurnal cetak), the charge is IDR 200,000 (incl. delivery fee) or USD 40 for foreign author (excl. delivery fee)

    4. *Effective date: 1st January 2018

    When the accepted manuscript has been proofread by the authors, MIK/PSR will send the invoice to the corresponding author by email and they need to complete the payment process before being published.
