Reviewer Guidelines
The Editorial Board of Jurnal Keperawatan Indonesia (JKI) greatly appreciates the valuable contribution of peer reviewers in maintaining the scientific quality, integrity, and credibility of the journal. Reviewers play an essential role in ensuring that published manuscripts meet the highest standards of research, reporting, and publication ethics.
Reviewer Invitation & Peer-Review Model
Reviewer Invitation
Reviewer invitations are sent via email through the journal management system. Upon receiving an invitation, reviewers are requested to respond within one week by either accepting or declining the review request. Before accepting an invitation, reviewers should ensure that they:
- possess appropriate expertise relevant to the manuscript;
- have sufficient time to complete the review within the requested timeframe;
- have no conflicts of interest that could influence the objectivity of their review.
Once the invitation is accepted, reviewers are generally expected to submit their review within two weeks, resulting in a total review period of approximately three weeks from the date the invitation is sent. If additional time is required, reviewers are encouraged to contact the Editorial Office as early as possible.
π Peer-Review Model: JKI operates a double-blind peer-review process. The identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process to ensure fairness, objectivity, and impartiality.
Reviewer Responsibilities & Review Process
Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers are expected to provide constructive, objective, and evidence-based evaluations that assist both the editors and authors in improving manuscript quality. Specifically, reviewers are expected to:
- declare any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest before accepting the review invitation;
- promptly inform the Editorial Office if any bias or circumstances may affect their impartiality;
- maintain strict confidentiality regarding all manuscript content and associated review materials;
- refrain from using generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools to evaluate, summarize, or generate review comments, unless explicitly permitted by the journal's editorial policy;
- evaluate manuscripts according to appropriate reporting guidelines whenever applicable (e.g., CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA, COREQ, SRQR, CARE, TREND, etc.);
- provide constructive, respectful, and specific comments supported by scientific reasoning;
- submit reviews within the agreed timeframe.
Review Process
Most manuscripts undergo at least two rounds of peer review to ensure that reviewer comments have been adequately addressed by the authors. Manuscripts requiring substantial revision may undergo additional rounds of peer review until the editors are satisfied that all major concerns have been appropriately resolved. Reviewers may be invited to reassess revised manuscripts submitted by the authors.
β Back to topReviewer Recognition and Benefits
JKI highly values the voluntary contributions made by its reviewers. As recognition for their service, reviewers are eligible to receive:
- an official reviewer certificate for each completed review;
- acknowledgment on the JKI website and in the annual JKI Reviewer Acknowledgment publication;
- a 10% publication discount voucher for each completed review. The voucher has no expiration date and may be redeemed toward future publication fees in JKI;
- access to statistical consultation provided by the journal when additional methodological or statistical expertise is needed during the review process.
