About the Journal

Jurnal Keperawatan Indonesia (JKI) is Indonesia’s oldest and most respected broad-based nursing journal. The journal was established in 1997 by Universitas Indonesia, and as the name suggests, JKI has become a pioneer in the publication of nursing journals in Indonesia.

JKI initially published three issues annually, featuring a cover design utilizing the university's signature yellow branding. In 1998, the publication frequency was adjusted to twice a year, and article titles were integrated directly onto the front cover. Following a period of irregular publication due to limited submissions between 1998 and 2000, operations stabilized significantly in 2001. In 2008, to meet national re-accreditation benchmarks and enhance editorial quality, the journal permanently transitioned back to a triannual publication schedule (March, July, and November).

The journal underwent major infrastructural modernization in 2013, redesigning its cover to comply with Indonesian national journal accreditation standards and adopting electronic editorial management via the Open Journal Systems (OJS). Full online operations and open-access publishing commenced in 2014 with Volume 17. JKI expanded its digital footprint in 2017 by registering with Crossref and assigning Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to all articles. Administrative and operational supervision of the journal is provided by the Directorate of Administration, Data and Management of Research and Innovation Products at Universitas Indonesia.

All articles published in JKI must feature a robust scientific, evidential, theoretical, or philosophical foundation, maintaining a critical, inquisitive, and scholarly approach.

JKI adheres to journalistic standards that demand transparency regarding authors’ and editors’ real and potential conflicts of interest. The publication adheres to the standards set by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, the World Association of Medical Editors, and the Committee on Publication Ethics.

Throughout our publication process, we maintain a double-blind peer-review process to prevent potential bias and ensure the high quality of our journal.

Jurnal Keperawatan Indonesia is a fully open-access journal; it does not charge readers or institutions for access to its content. While there is no fee for manuscript submission, the journal levies an Article Processing Charge (APC) upon acceptance for all manuscript types, applicable to authors globally.

JKI editorial office will send an official proofreading invoice to the corresponding author once the final proofreading has been completed. Formal online publication of the article will not proceed until this invoice is settled in full. Requests for printed copies or reprints of the article will result in additional manufacturing and shipping costs.
