Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) in the context of cryptocurrency investment intentions. UTAUT is a modern technology acceptance theory, developed from earlier models of technology adoption, and is commonly used to explore user acceptance of new technologies. In this context, it is applied to cryptocurrency, a relatively new form of investment that relies on technology not previously used in traditional investment instruments such as stocks, commodities, bonds, or mutual funds. UTAUT consists of four key constructs that explain individuals' intention and behavior in adopting a technology: effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, social influence, and performance expectancy. This research seeks to enhance theoretical understanding of UTAUT, particularly in relation to public investment intentions toward cryptocurrency an area that remains underexplored. Furthermore, this study provides valuable insights for fintech companies, academics, regulators, and practitioners as a foundation for further research on cryptocurrency investment. In addition, the conceptual model proposed in this paper is expected to serve as a basis for future empirical studies aligned with ongoing technological developments.

Bahasa Abstract
