About This Journal
Indonesian Journal of Environmental Law (IJEL) is a jointly managed journal between the Center for Environmental Law and Climate Justice (CELCJ) Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia and the Indonesian Center for Environmental Law (ICEL). It is an open access and double-blind peer review journal which will be published twice a year. IJEL is more than just a journal; it's a crucible for fostering dialogue and shaping the future of environmental policy in Indonesia and across Asia.
Pioneering the landscape of environmental law scholarship since its inception in 1997 under the stewardship of the Indonesian Center for Environmental Law (ICEL), Indonesia Journal of Environmental Law (IJEL) quickly became a beacon of knowledge, publishing two esteemed English editions to disseminate Indonesia's environmental law and policy advancements worldwide. Despite a hiatus, IJEL's legacy endured, awaiting its resurgence. In a landmark collaboration in 2023, ICEL formalized a partnership with the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia, signalling the dawn of a new era for IJEL. Now, jointly managed by ICEL and the Center for Environmental Law and Climate Justice (CELCJ) at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia, IJEL rises once again, its printed ISSN proudly registered under the auspices of Universitas Indonesia.
