Abstract

Given the mixed results of the existing research on the relationship between transport infrastructure and economic growth in Indonesia, this study, which aims to examine this relationship, uses two approaches, first using time-series data and second using panel data. From the first approach, this study concludes that there is a unidirectional relationship from economic growth to road infrastructure, while between economic growth and air and sea transportation infrastructure there is no relationship. Similar results were also found using the second approach. The growth of three types transport infrastructure does not have a significant effect on economic growth.

Bahasa Abstract

Mengingat bervariasinya hasil penelitian yang sudah ada mengenai hubungan hubungan antara infrastruktur transportasi dan pertumbuhan ekonomi di Indonesia, maka penelitian ini, yang bertujuan untuk meneliti hubungan tersebut, menggunakan dua pendekatan sekaligus yaitu pertama dengan menggunakan data time series dan kedua dengan data panel. Dari pendekatan pertama, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan searah dari pertumbuhan ekonomi ke pertumbuhan infrastruktur jalan, dan tidak sebaliknya. Sementara, hubungan pertumbuhan ekonomi dengan transportasi udara dan laut tidak signifikan. Hasil yang serupa juga ditemukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kedua. Pertumbuhan dari ketiga mode transportasi tersebut tidak memiliki efek yang signifikan pada pertumbuhan ekonomi.
