Manuscript Guidelines

In order for a manuscript to be published in the Jurnal Ilmu Kesejahteraan Sosial, it must meet certain criteria. The manuscript must relate to a factual social welfare theme or issue and follow the rules of scientific writing. This includes identifying and analyzing social problems and social interventions, covering micro, mezzo, and macro levels of social intervention. Manuscripts can also cover issues regarding the development of methodology and curriculum for social welfare education in Indonesia. Manuscripts that have been presented at previous scientific meetings but have never been published in any journal; may also be submitted for publication. Manuscripts in both Indonesian and English are accepted. The editor has the right to make technical and substantive changes to improve manuscripts that do not meet the requirements, but are suitable for publication.

Here are the technical specifications that manuscripts must follow:

  • The document should be formatted with two columns and 2 cm margins on the top and bottom, and 1.5 cm margins on the left and right sides.
  • The font used should be Times New Roman, with the following sizes:
    • Title: 14
    • Authors: 12
    • Email correspondence: 10
    • Abstract: 10
    • Abstract contents: 10
    • Chapter title: 12
    • Chapter contents: 11
    • Page setup for A4 paper with single spacing for the abstract and 1.5 spacing for the content of the article (excluding the abstract).
    • The number of words in the article is 5,000 – 10,000 words.

A writing framework must contain:

  1. Title: The title represents or shows the content of the article. Written using capital letters at the beginning of each word except conjunctions.
  2. Author's name: Written sequentially according to contribution in writing. The author's affiliated institution is mentioned in detail (role/position, department/division, and name of institution) in the footnotes.
  3. Email correspondence: Written under the author's name. If there are multiple authors, please select and agree on one email address to be used for correspondence purposes.
  4. Abstract: The article must be accompanied by an abstract in Indonesian and English (maximum 250 words/language) and several keywords that indicate the fundamental issue or theme discussed in the article. If the article is written in English, there is no need to include an abstract in Indonesian. The abstract contains the background to the importance of the research, study objectives, methods, findings, and brief conclusions.
  5. Introduction: The introduction needs to include three things, namely, (1) previous research (state of the art) which mainly comes from the last 10 years; (2) a statement regarding a gap in knowledge (research gap) or a need to contribute to updating knowledge (novelty); and (3) the purpose of the research or article writing needs to be stated clearly at the end of the Introduction.
  6. Method: This section should describe the methodology used for collecting data from the writing, whether quantitative, qualitative, or a combination of both.
  7. Results: This section describes the research results based on the facts of the research results by including supporting data.
  8. Discussion: In the discussion, the author explains the interpretation of the research results and their relationship to the concepts and theories used. The author also compares it with previous research listed in the Introduction section.
  9. Conclusion: Conclusions must be appropriate and answer the research objectives stated in the Introduction. The author must also discuss the implications of the research findings for scientific development in the field of social welfare.
  10. Bibliography (minimum 15 reference sources): The bibliography contains academic articles and books or other primary sources used in the writing. Recommended sources are from the last 10 years, especially for scientific articles. The bibliography and citations use the American Psychological Association (APA) reference style.

    Terms of use of tables and pictures:

  • Each table and picture is numbered and titled.
  • Each table and picture must be referenced in the text by including the number of the table or picture.
  • Tables and pictures should be kept in a minimal number and not interrupted by page break.

    Language in writing:

  • Authors must use words and terms with official Indonesian language standards (according to KBBI and EYD).
  • Each sentence should have standardized language structure (Subject + Predicate + Object + Information).
  • Authors proofread their manuscripts whether there are errors in word writing, punctuation, and use of capital letters before sending a manuscript.
