Abstract
Background: Sedentary behavior among college students leads to decreased physical activity, which negatively affects physical fitness, especially by reducing muscle flexibility. Self-Myofascial Release (SMFR) and Dynamic stretching (DS) are exercise interventions that have the potential to improve muscle flexibility. Objective : This study aimed to compare the acute effects of Self-Myofascial Release and Dynamic stretching on hamstring flexibility in students with hamstring tightness. Methods: This study employed a two-group pre-test and post-test design conducted in May at Poltekkes Surakarta. Participants were selected using simple random sampling and divided into two groups: SMFR (n=19) and DS (n=19). Each group received a single intervention. Hamstring flexibility was measured using the Active Knee Extension Test with a goniometer before and after treatment. Results : Statistical analysis using the dependent t-test showed significant improvement in both groups (Group I: p = 0.000; Group II: p = 0.000, p= Conclusion : Both Self-Myofascial Release and Dynamic stretching produce acute effects in improving hamstring flexibility. However, Dynamic stretching is more effective than Self-Myofascial Release in increasing hamstring flexibility among students with hamstring tightness.

Bahasa Abstract
Latar Belakang : Perilaku sedenter pada mahasiswa dapat menyebabkan penurunan aktivitas fisik yang berdampak pada kebugaran jasmani, termasuk penurunan fleksibilitas otot. Self-Myofascial Release (SMFR) dan Dynamic stretching (DS) merupakan bentuk latihan yang berpotensi meningkatkan fleksibilitas otot. Tujuan : Untuk mengetahui perbedaan pengaruh akut pemberian self myofascial release dan dynamic stretching terhadap peningkatan fleksibilitas hamstring pada hamstring tightness. Metode : Penelitian ini menggunakan desain two group pre-test and post-test pada bulan Mei di Poltekkes Surakarta. Sampel dipilih dengan teknik simple random sampling dan dibagi menjadi dua kelompok: SMFR (n=19) dan DS (n=19). Kedua kelompok mendapat satu kali intervensi. Fleksibilitas hamstring diukur dengan Active Knee Extension Test menggunakan goniometer sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Hasil : Analisis data menggunakan dependent sample t test pada kelompok I menunjukkan nilai p= 0,000 (p= < 0,05) dan kelompok II menunjukkan nilai p=0,000 (p= < 0,05), dan komparasi antara kelompok I dan kelompok II menggunakan independent sample t test menunjukkan nilai p= 0,000 (p= < 0,05). Kesimpulan : Self myofascial release dan Dynamic stretching memberikan pengaruh akut terhadap peningkatan fleksibilitas otot hamstring. Namun, pemberian Dynamic stretching lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan fleksibilitas hamstring pada hamstring tightness dibandingkan Self myofascial release.
