Abstract

Space as a social product contains of complex social construction based on meaning and interests contestation inside it. Those who are involved in exposing meanings and contestation in space not only come from individual or group who live in that space, but also other parties who consider themselves having experiences, knowledges, and imaginations about that space, including social movement. Komunitas Peduli Kali Loji (KPKL) is the one who actively making conceptions related to ideal space in Pekalongan City. Began from an environment movement, KPKL tries to transmit knowledges that they have about space conception in Pekalongan City amongst tidal flood issue that is soaking 40% of the city. KPKL got the conception of ideal space for Pekalongan City from actors in the movenment and need assessment that they did. Based on those two sources of knowledge, KPKL takes step as a knowledge producer which then being attempted to be distributed through a series of political movement practices. Begin from the trialectica concepts, and those are lived space, conceived space, and perceived space which give particular place for imaginations about ideal space, this article tries to explain the interconnection between spatial space context, people who lives there, and “professionals” who try to bring their conception of space into reality. Furthermore, this article also tries to explain about the production process of knowledge about ideal space conception and KPKL social movement›s political practices in order to bring the conception of ideal space in Pekalongan City into reality.
