Abstract
Introduction. High-risk workers at PT. KPI Pertamina RU VI Balongan are those facing health issues that need evaluation, such as obesity, dyslipidemia, and hyperglycemia. Workers require a healthier physical condition to safely perform their duties in hazardous work areas. This study aims to assess the changes in health parameters of these workers, including weight, waist circumference, fat mass, total cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides, and fasting blood sugar, following the implementation of a targeted wellness program. The study was conducted for 66 days.
Methods. The research used a descriptive method with a sample size of 30 respondents selected using purposive sampling technique.
Results. The findings revealed that 29 participants (97%) experienced a decrease in weight, with 20 participants (66%) losing between 5 – 10 kg weight. Additionally, 28 participants (93%) showed a reduction in fat mass, 24 participants (80%) had a decreased waist circumference, 18 participants (60%) demonstrated a decrease in cholesterol levels, 8 participants (27%) had reduced preprandial blood glucose, 11 participants (37%) experienced a decrease in LDL, and 10 participants (33%) saw a reduction in triglycerides.
Discussion. The targeted wellness program needs to be designed for long-term application and adaptable to the changing conditions of the company to further improve the fitness of the workers.
Conclusion. The implemented targeted wellness program has been effective in enhancing the health parameters of the workers. This effectiveness is indicated by the significant reduction in weight, waist circumference, fat mass, and levels of total cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides, and preprandial blood glucose in the majority of the participants.
