Abstract

Domestic competition has an influence on the export performance of the firm. Based on theory, the influence will vary depending on the level of efficiency owned by the firm. Using the data of large industrial companies currently manufacturing from 2002 to 2014 aggregated into the ISIC rev 3 3-digit sector, this study shows that domestic competition will have a positive influence on export performance in sectors with low and medium technology levels. While in high technology sectors, domestic competition has a negative effect on export performance.

Bahasa Abstract

Kompetisi perusahaan di pasar domestik mempunyai pengaruh terhadap performa ekspor perusahaan tersebut. Berdasarkan teori, pengaruhnya akan berbeda-beda tergantung pada tingkat efisiensi yang dimiliki oleh perusahaan tersebut. Dengan menggunakan data perusahaan industri besar sedang manufaktur 2002-2014 yang diagregat ke subsektor 3 digit KBLI tahun 2005, studi ini menunjukkan bahwa kompetisi domestik mempunyai pengaruh yang positif terhadap performa ekspor pada sektor yang mempunyai tingkat teknologi yang sedang dan rendah. Sedangkan pada sektor dengan teknologi tinggi, kompetisi domestik mempunyai pengaruh negatif terhadap performa ekspor.
